Caring for Kids

This is my first post on a blog that is of little consequence but will help me to put a little fun in my day as I attempt to shape America's future. (As if I need something more to do.) It is more for me than anyone, so enjoy it if you're here.

If you haven't been reading Stuff Christians Like, you should. It has increased my satisfaction in reading by 17%.

First on the list of stuff teachers like:
Caring for kids. Because it's true of 98% of teachers. And because if we didn't truly care for kids (or have some crazy awesome plans in the summer) there would be no way any of us would stay in the teaching profession. I could list about 5,298 reasons this is true, but who needs them? I'll give you three reasons we stay in it for the kids when it gets frustrating:

1 - Kids can be punks, but we think that maybe something we say or do will change at least one of them.

2 - Many kids have some crappy home situations. I mean really, REALLY, terrible things go on when they're not at school. We, as teachers, hope we can help them make decisions that will get them out of their literal hell-holes.

3 - Cliche or not, they are the future. The influence and inventions of today's kids are what we have to look forward to in the years to come. I'd like them to do well, for their own sakes and for my (future) children's sakes.
