ok, this might relate more to female teachers than to males, but oh well. look on the back of any female teacher's chair and you will find a cardigan, or at least a light jacket of some kind.
why? because you never know what temperature you're going to get in your classroom, and it's best to be prepared for the worst. exhibit a: last year i literally sweated in my classroom with no windows (and apparently no AC vents). this year: freezing all the time, due to the draft in the window by my desk. sometimes i think about my little room with no windows and wimper for the warmth i used to have. however, i know if i was still in that room, i would want a drafty window.
furthermore, at least 2 days out of every school year something will go wrong with the "boiler room," wherever that is. then you either freeze to death or swim in sweat.
at least the cardigans are getting cuter these days.
